About the Role

The Floral Clerk ensures floral displays and shelves are fully stocked, clean, organized, and presentable while providing outstanding customer service. This role maintains product freshness, creates floral arrangements, supports merchandising plans, and promotes sales through suggestive selling, all while following Vallarta’s high standards of quality, safety, and service.

What You’ll Do

• Customer Service: Smile, greet, and assist customers with courtesy and respect.

• Floral Arrangements: Create custom and display arrangements; maintain plants through watering, culling, and rotation using FIFO practices.

• Merchandising: Stock and rotate floral items, maintain proper signage, scan UPCs, and ensure displays are appealing and accurate.

• Product Care: Handle floral items carefully to prevent damage, waste, and poor quality. Report poor-quality products immediately.

• Sales Support: Promote sales through suggestive selling and customer engagement.

• Operations: Load, transport, and organize floral merchandise from storage and coolers.

• Sanitation: Clean work areas, sweep, mop, and wash floral equipment and supplies.

• Compliance & Safety: Follow health code regulations, promote company safety policies, and report unsafe acts, conditions, or equipment immediately.

• Teamwork: Assist coworkers, support merchandising plans approved by management, and maintain communication with the Floral Manager.

• Other Duties: Perform additional tasks assigned to support department goals.

Physical Requirements

• Stand and walk for long periods (6–8 hours/day).

• Frequently bend, squat, twist, and reach above/below shoulders.

• Frequent use of hands for simple grasping, power grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.

• Lift and carry up to 25 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally (e.g., floral products, potatoes/beans).

• Heaviest item carried: 50 lbs.; longest distance: 5 feet.

• Operate moving equipment such as carts, forklifts, or pallet jacks.

• Work near equipment and machinery, with exposure to dust, gas, fumes, and noise.

• Walk on uneven ground as needed.

What We’re Looking For

• Ability to learn and care for floral products.

• Familiarity with tools and equipment used in the floral department.

• Strong customer service and communication skills.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency.

• Prior floral experience preferred but not required.

• Basic understanding of English language.

• Must be able to transfer to other store locations within a reasonable commute.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Work Environment

• Fast-paced retail floral setting with direct customer interaction.

• Exposure to perishable products, equipment, and varying conditions.

• Must work flexible schedule: afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
