About the Role

The Floral Lead oversees the day-to-day operations of the Floral Department, ensuring extraordinary customer service, product quality, and beautiful presentations. This role is responsible for creating floral arrangements, maintaining stock levels, reducing shrink, and training team members in floral design and customer engagement. The Floral Lead supports the Produce Manager in achieving departmental goals and ensuring compliance with company policies.

What You’ll Do

• Smile, greet, and model Vallarta’s Nuestra CASA pledge of extraordinary service.

• Assist the Produce Manager in planning, organizing, and controlling floral operations to achieve sales, profit, and labor goals.

• Manage inventory of flowers, balloons, supplies, and cards, ensuring timely replenishment.

• Perform monthly physical inventory and maintain accurate records.

• Create floral arrangements, bouquets, and gift-ready plant items that exceed customer expectations.

• Ensure department is fully stocked, clean, safe, and visually appealing.

• Lead team members through training, delegation, and coaching on Vallarta’s standards.

• Address escalated customer feedback and resolve concerns professionally.

• Suggestive sell floral items and promote department offerings.

• Ensure signage, pricing, and displays meet company standards.

• Report vendor product quality issues and request credits as needed.

• Maintain safety, compliance, and company dress code standards.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

• Stand and walk for long periods (6–8 hours/day).

• Frequently bend, squat, twist, and reach above/below shoulders.

• Use hands frequently for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.

• Lift and carry up to 25 lbs. frequently, and up to 40 lbs. occasionally.

• Work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to perishable products.

What We’re Looking For

• Friendly, customer-oriented personality with creativity in floral design.

• Ability to train, motivate, and lead team members.

• Knowledge of floral preparation, quality control, and merchandising.

• Basic computer proficiency (Word, Outlook).

• 3–6 months of supermarket or floral retail experience required.

• Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.

• Willingness to transfer to other locations if needed.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

• Fast-paced supermarket Floral Department.
